Apples and Glass #1 - Completed

Finally got to complete the first painting in the Apples and Glass series. It has actually taken a lot longer than I expected, and I am reasonably satisfied with the result. Added more highlights to the glass, and some on the apple next to the glass. When I checked the grayscaled version of the image as it was during the last update, I felt there was not much variation in the darker tones. They all looked almost black. So I have lightened some of the darks, brought in a bit more variety.

I have also put up a slide show of the various stages of this painting, from underpainting to completion. I thought I had taken several photos in between, but there are only four! Have a look, enjoy. Click on the image for a better view of the stages.

  1. To me, this one looks the best among the series. The shapes, colors and shades came out very well in this one.

  2. This is my favorite too, and I heard the same from just about everyone at WetCanvas. Somehow the fabric and the folds all came together really well in the setup itself. Thank you.
